VP, Client - FinTech

The VP, Client (FinTech) is a client and partner-facing role focusing on new business and product expansion in Assurely’s FinTech-focused sectors.  You will specialize in insurance advisory and drive growth within sectors including but not restricted to financial services, financial technology, and new-age companies and technologies within the greater startup, capital raising, and financial services ecosystem.  

The VP, Client (FinTech) role is a unique opportunity for industry professionals because of Assurely’s focus on embedded distribution. Assurely’s early success executing embedded distribution strategies to access commercial clients is disciplined and unique to many of the InsurTech incumbents. You will have significant interaction with our non-insurance native partners - the vertical SaaS and operating systems focused on FinTech - and be required to recognize not only end policyholder value propositions but also how that impacts our Partners’ goals and needs.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate technical knowledge necessary to communicate Assurely product and technology solutions effectively

  • Achieve new business sales and product expansion goals within Assurely’s target market of companies and partners on a quarterly basis

  • Facilitate the necessary insurance operations and customer service objectives as directed by the insurance operations team member(s)

  • Update and improve internal information management systems

  • Be a disciplined champion of the Assurely culture and brand with external and internal partners, vendors, clients, and colleagues

  • Acquire new clients and win accounts against competitors

  • Assist prospective clients with filling out forms, communicating with the company, finding the best plans and strategies, and negotiating the final deals

  • Understand the provisions of each policy and communicate this information to the customer

  • Share client information with insurance carriers to determine which products are best to recommend

  • Act as a liaison between insurers and clients

  • Building and maintaining business relationships with clients

  • Preparing reports for insurance underwriters

  • Research insurance trends, policies and products

Requirements

  • A self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit with excellent time management, organizational skills,and a habit of assiduity

  • 3-5+ years of experience in insurance brokerage, carrier, or a related insurance business sales and/or account management position (experience is agnostic to SMB, middle-market, and enterprise customers)

  • Experience engaging with clients in the realm of capital raising and startup ventures, particularly within the domains of financial services, FinTech, high-growth investor-backed enterprises, Web3 and Digital Assets, AI, and other cutting-edge emerging technologies.

  • Demonstrated expertise in engaging directly with underwriters and influential insurance stakeholders who support companies within the greater capital-raising industry.

  • Experience working within a CRM and various systems to record activities and keep updated on a regular basis

  • Ability to review insurance policy language and provide technical policy comparisons for internal and external purposes

  • Demonstrates an ability to build strong working relationships both internally and externally and a commitment to coming through for people

  • Demonstrates a logical, rational approach to tackling new ideas, sorting information, and discovering creative solutions as problems are presented
    A proven track record of working as an insurance broker

  • In-depth knowledge of various insurance plans

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills

  • Self-motivated with intense curiosity 

  • Current insurance licensing

Nice to haves

  • In depth knowledge of management liability insurance coverage

  • Experience with Nexsure, Freshsales, Broker Buddha a plus, as well as carrier rating platforms, PDF Edit, and completing ACORD forms and COIs

  • Existing relationships with carrier partners specializing in the FinTech industry

  • Experience working with excess & surplus lines placements and state filing requirements

The compensation package is a combination of salary, business development-based compensation, equity, health insurance, and being part of the mission to create the future norm of the insurance industry.
